The earnings gap between male and female sales managers

Article Abstract:

This study reports an empirical investigation focusing on the earnings gap between male and female sales managers in Turkey and examines the possible effects of antecedents such as individual, firm, and industry-level variables. In this study, data were gathered from the 500 largest industrial companies. Findings suggest that there is an earnings gap between Turkish male and female sales managers, occupational discrimination is a significant predictor of the earnings gap, and the earnings gap between male and female sales managers can be attributed to the individual-, firm-, and industry-level variables. Relationships between antecedents and income were also largely as expected. This study provides a starting point for a fertile area of research with important implications for sales managers and scholars as well as for organizations themselves.
