The evolution of a new business culture

Article Abstract:

Companies in mainland Europe are increasingly using private equity to fund business expansions. The German Bundesbank claims business conditions throughout Europe should be shifted to equity from debt, with share issues allowing more rapid corporate restructuring than bank funding. MBIs and MBOs are often backed with venture capital in the UK, while managers in mainland European companies do not have an entrepreneurial spirit and do not recognise the philosophy which drives MBIs and MBOs. Private equity can help independent firms to restructure or become created.
