Jacques Gatien's company Atlantic Promotions of Longueuil, Quebec, exemplifies his long-time mantra that 'showing is selling,' which has become the company's main marketing strategy. He firmly belives that use of demonstration makes selling a product easy. The most convincing evidence to proove his motto is the company's revenues, which have been growing by 5% to 10% annually and totalled $115 million in 1999. Aside fron the gadgets he developed, the company also promotes gadgets from other inventors.

CRTC to extend telemarketing rules

Article Abstract:

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has proposed to extend its existing telemarketing rules to all Canadian telecos. The original rules allow unsolicited communications only through local exchange carriers that were already established when the rules were implemented. The CRTC said that by expanding the rules to include telcos that have popped up since 1997, consumer complaints can be addressed better by the commission and telcos.

Phonettix CEO asked to resign

Article Abstract:

Telemarketing firm Phonetix Intelecom Ltd's CEO and Chmn Michael Jarm was asked to leae to comply with the restructuring program that the firm has embarked on. Founder and president Dorothy Millman is replacing Jarman whose focus on interactive information systems deviated from the main focus of the companyy which is operating call centers. Since Jarman took over, the number of call centers has doubled but much of the core business has been lost.
