The impact of outsourcing strategies on information systems cpabilities in the hotel industry

Article Abstract:

The various activities that compose the information systems and information technology (IS/IT) field were considered in analyzing the outsourcing of the IS/IT. A theoretical model is developed and applied to the hotel sector, showing hotels that follow a more intensive outsourcing strategy gain fewer managerial capabilities pertaining to the knowledge in the mangement of IS/IT. A lower potential for the development of competitive advantage can be caused by the observed negative relationship between the level of outsourcing and strategic value given to the IS/IT area.
