The price of perjury

Article Abstract:

The Monica Lewinsky scandal relates to obstruction of justice and perjury, and this should be a serious affair for President Bill Clinton, yet voters appear to be tolerant of his behavior. Commitment to oaths is significant in the US, where there is no common religion, language or ethnicity, but as otahs have become more common, so they are taken less seriously. There is also greater tolerance of private sexual arrangements and there is distaste for the way that journalists and prosecutor Ken Starr have dealt with the Lewinsky case. A reduction in legalism would mean that impeachment would be easier.
