The real head of the household

Article Abstract:

The world wide economic recession gave Leif Johansson, President of electrical appliance company Electrolux, the impetus to make important changes. By forming three major businesses from the 450 which had previously existed and using new technologies especially for internal communication he has revitalized the firm. The Electrolux business is worth 11 billion pounds sterling each year which has financed the purchase of two new companies during 1994-1996. In response to stable sales figures in Europe and the USA, Johansson is looking to countries such as Brazil for new markets.

Debt servicing capacity in the household sector

Article Abstract:

Overall household debt rose in Norway during the mid- to late-1980s but declined steadily since 1988, when debt servicing amounted to 20% of cash surplus in the average household. Studies indicate that few consumers are affected significantly by a rise in interest rates of 2-3%, but unemployment would severely impact debt servicing overall. The self-employer have repeatedly had the highest level of debt to cash among norwegian consumers.
