The revolving door: downsizing in America

Article Abstract:

An AMA survey shows that many large and medium-sized companies cut jobs in 1995 and 1996, but that these companies also created a good deal of jobs. The overall job reduction rate of the downsizing companies was only .7%. Many companies realized that cutting jobs does not necessarily increase profits.

Vietnamese leaders feel that they can increase free market trade in their country without endangering Communist Party control. While some hardliners protest, most feel that the economic reform will continue as foreign investment continues to grow.
