The role of technology use in the survival and growth of manufacturing plants

Article Abstract:

Previous studies have shown a correlation between higher measured productivity and higher growth rates and lower failure rates for manufacturing plants. However, they have failed to account for the considerable variations in plant-level growth and failure. This can be remedied through the full control of producer heterogeneity arising from differences in the level and type of capital equipment in the plant.
