Pres Clinton's health care reform plans are beginning to take shape. They are expected to emphasize coverage to the 36 million currently uninsured, and a complete reorganization of the health care sector. Implementation and financing of the plans will be more complex.

Although 3 charter schools in Boston, MA, are successfully raising students' academic achievement scores, Pres Clinton has not made them a centerpiece of his education reform plans. His policy is timid because he does not want to alienate teachers' unions.

After AIDS: homosexual politics

Gays have gained a more visible profile in national politics, due mainly to Pres Clinton's efforts to end the ban on openly gay military personnel. Following AIDS, the push for civil rights will become the political focus for gays.
