The world's favourite industry

Article Abstract:

Investor interest in airport privatizations is growing because of their low-risk and steady growth potential. Airport operator UK-based BAA PLC was once the only player in airport sell-offs, but has recently been joined, not only by rival operators, but by construction and bus companies. The fast growth in air travel is triggering investor interest, with figures from the International Air Transport Association forecasting that international scheduled passenger numbers will rise from 318 million in 1993 to 789 million in 2010. A table of airport sales between June 1997 and June 1998 is included.
