Things to come

Article Abstract:

Airlines are spending extensively to provide innovative entertainment facilities for passengers. Multi-channel video systems, some with individual screens, are being installed to give passengers a wider choice of services. Communication satellite services and international telephone systems are being provided for businessmen who want to keep pace with stock market situations and business deals while traveling. While the cost for such technological advances is staggering, airlines are willing to spend to give more comfort to passengers and to keep up with the competition.

Bigger blip on radar

Article Abstract:

Hong Kong's Air Transport Licensing Authority has granted Air Hong Kong Ltd licenses to service 31 destinations out of 80 which it had previously applied for. Of the total, 17 were renewals of the carrier's licenses while the remaining were new. The approvals are expected to increase the company's share in the colony's air freight market. However, industry observers are skeptical as to whether the company can operate in all of its points of destination owing to its small size.
