Thomson shares dive after loss report

Article Abstract:

Thomson Travel Group PLC posted a loss during the first-half of 1999. As a result of the negative results, the group saw its share value fall by almost 19%. Thomson stated that its profits for the entire 1999 year would be much lower-than-expected. Overcapacity in September and October was the reasons for the loss, according to the group. Thomson posted 5.1 million pound sterling (8 million euros) in pretax losses for the period.
