Predicted sales of tissue paper products, in the UK, should reach 832 million pounds sterling, during 1997-2000. Sales of facial tissues, in the UK, were worth 143.2 million pounds sterling compared to sales of toilet tissues which were valued at 633 million pounds sterling, in 1997. Over 65 million pounds sterling was invested in advertising campaigns for disposable paper products, during 1996. Sales of disposable paper products makes up 11.5% of the total UK toiletries market. Kimberley-Clark Ltd, is the most important UK manufacturer of both toilet and facial tissues.

Most products in the sector are made at home, with few imports. Production of disposable paper products in the U.K. during 1992 totalled 234.7 million pounds sterling. The kitchen towels segment was worth 128 million pounds sterling in 1993, with volume totalling 266,000 t. The market for moist wipes reached 55 million pounds sterling in 1993.
