Toys 'R' Us swung to loss in quarter on retail downturn

Toys "R" Us Inc. posted a higher-than-expected loss for the 2001 first-quarter. The company posted $18 million (20.5 million euros) in net loss for the period, compared to $215 million in net income during the same 2000 period.
