Tractebel compte se d velopper sur le marchhongrois au d part de Dunamenti

Article Abstract:

In 1995, Tractebel, the Belgian electricity group, took a 49% stake in the Hungarian fuel oil and gas-fired electrical power station at Dunamenti which has an installed power of 2,200 megawatts. Since then, Tractebel has invested US$ 180mn in this plant and increased its stake to 74%. This partnership is expected to develop still further with an investment of US$ 1bn to increase is capacity by 1,200 megawatts. Tractebel wants to increase its interests in the Hungarian electrical sector, and also in the Poland, where power stations are to be privatised. Tractebel is present on the waste management market in Poland through its subsidiary Fabricom, which set up a joint venture with the Polish company Asma for waste collection. This joint venture made a turnover of BFr 288.8mn in 1997, and it expects to make a turnover of BFr 378mn in 1998.

Article Abstract:

Dipo, the Belgian savings bank has announced, in its annual report, that in 1997 that the global total of savings funds held by the bank was BFr 17.55bn, up 8.58% on 1996. Profits were recorded at BFr 201.37mn, from BFr 143.31mn in 1996. New credits signed by the bank in 1997 rose 16.2% to BFr 1.21bn. The bank have attributed their success to the same favourable financial conditions it experienced in 1996, particularly cuts in inflation and interest rates.
