Trade-off analysis using parametric optimization techniques

Article Abstract:

A method for simplifying trade-off analysis using parametric optimization techniques is described to ease the burden of decision makers in solving multi-objective programming problems. The method builds on the aspiration level technique and can rapidly show the exact trade-off information in linear and quadratic problems, even in cases with several objective functions. It is more potent when combined with graphic presentation for computer output such as animation.

An application of a multi-objective programming technique to construction accuracy control of cable-stayed bridges

Article Abstract:

The use of a multi-objective optimization technique for the control of the construction accuracy of cable-stayed bridges. Specifically, a solution based on the aspiration level approach known as satisficing trade-off method is developed and implemented in a user-friendly software. It is applied to the adjustment of the cable length and tension of the Swan Bridge in Ube City, Japan.
