Tsingtao loses fizz as competition, rising ingredient costs sop up profits

Article Abstract:

Analysts believe Tsingtao Brewery Company Ltd. (Tsingtao) stock will soon suffer a substantial decline as the company's profit margins go down and debts remain unpaid. Tsingtao share prices are still at premium levels but analysts are generally pessimistic about its near-term prospects and are advising investors to sell and instead buy into San Miguel Brewery Hong Kong Ltd. Many quarters believe Tsingtao shares were very much overrated to begin with and that a drop in price should be expected.

Problems at China's Daya Bay reactor could mean opportunities for U.S. firms

Article Abstract:

Design problems at China's Daya Bay nuclear power station may yet provide a windfall for US firms yearning to do business in the area. The plant, located 30 miles northwest of Hong Kong, was built by France's Framatome SA. One of its two reactors was shut down after it failed a safety test involving control rod-drop performance. The problem was eventually traced to a design change intended to correct earlier trouble with control rods at reactors in France.
