Article Abstract:

Wilkinson Eyre Architects designed the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, which links Newcastle and Gateshead. It consists of a pair of soaring parabolic arches spanning 105 meters across the River Tyne. Both arches pivot to allow ships to pass below.

A bridge for Shanks's pony

Article Abstract:

Shanks Millennium Bridge is made from Cor-Ten steel. It allows pedestrians to cross the River Nene. Cor-Ten is a partially recycled material that weathers in gradations of color according to its orientation. It has won awards and commendations.

Walking through hoops

Article Abstract:

Eduard Ross' design of a footbridge at Princes Dock in Liverpool features a massive canted wishbone resting on steel ribs with a walkway running through them. Ross was awarded the project while still a student.
