UAW gets Daimler-Chrysler seat

Article Abstract:

The United Auto Workers (UAW), a US union, will obtain one of the three seats of IG Metall, a metalworkers union in Germany, on the 20-seat supervisory board that will supervise Chrysler Corp. and Daimler-Benz following their merger. The UAW also sought for a modification in German regulation to provide foreign workers greater representation. UAW President Stephen Yokich commented the union does not have much option under German regulation, even though the UAW would want to secure more than one seat on Daimler-Chrysler AG's supervisory board.

Comment:

Its supervisory board will be composed of one representative from the United Auto Workers, a US union
