UK: UNEMPLOYMENT COVER AT RISK FROM GISC RULES

Article Abstract:

New rules introduced by the UK's General Insurance Standards Council (GISC) may result in providers axing unemployment cover instead of requiring IFAs to join the council. The rules require general insurance provision to be made through GISC-registered independent intermediaries. Zurich Life is prepared to withdraw its Comprehensive Mortgage Insurance mortgage payment protection plan, if IFAs are being required to join the GISC. Norwich Union is giving IFAs the opportunity to become tied agents.
