Standard Life Bank is offering a mortgage which gives a bonus of 1% on outstanding capital every two years. The capital reward variable rate is 6.45%, and there are no redemption penalties. After the 1% capital reduction bonus is taken from the capital, the monthly payments are automatically reduced, unless the borrower wishes to overpay.

UK: Genesis offers diamond mortgage

Genesis Home Loans has introduced its diamond, jade and emerald mortgages. The Emerald mortgage has a fixed rate of 6.99% until April 2003, while the Jade discount rate has a 1% discount over the same period. The Jade mortgage is available for temporary workers or those on probationary periods and requires no bank statements.
