UK: NEW BARINGS FUND INVESTS IN FIVE GLOBAL SECTORS

Article Abstract:

Barings Asset Management (BAM) is launching a new fund in February 2001, the Baring Leading Sectors Fund, which targets investment in five global sectors: telecoms, healthcare, media, financials and technology, which BAM consider to have the best long-term growth potential. Fund manager, Lucy Macdonald, deputy head of BAM's equity team in the UK, will have the option to drop unfavourable sectors and replace them with others if necessary. The fund portfolio will contain a total of some 80 stocks, resulting in high stock concentration by sector, and is benchmarked to the MSCI World Index. Minimum investment is GBu 2,500, with a yearly management fee of 1.5% and an initial charge of 5%.
