UK: SURVEY INDICATES PREFERENCE FOR OLDER ADVISERS

Article Abstract:

People in the UK prefer to obtain financial advice from an adviser in the 45-59 age group, rather than the 30s age group, according to a survey by FiftyOn.co.uk, over 50s' employment website. Some 75% of those surveyed think older people are likely to be more honest. Two fifths of people aged over 45 would rather receive financial advice from an older adviser. Some 89% of respondents believe that obtaining new skills is not a problem for older people, who are experienced, professional and courteous. According to the chief executive of FiftyOn, the survey indicates that there is still a lot of value in employing older staff.

UK: FSA REPORT REVEALS CLIENT DISSATISFACTION

Article Abstract:

A Financial Services Authority (FSA) report has revealed that 20% of respondents feel that the subject of commission and charges is not explained clearly by advisers, with one in eight claiming that their adviser failed to understand their financial requirements. Use of financial jargon, misleading promotional material, and failure to point out risks involved with particular products are among the criticisms raised by the report.
