UK shipbuilder positions for next competitions

Article Abstract:

Vosper Thornycroft (VT), an English shipbuilder, will undertake an intensive upgrading of its Woolston, Southampton, UK, facilities to qualify for the UK Royal Navy's (RN) new-generation frigate construction program. The upgrade will put VT at par with GEC as a major surface combatant shipbuilding company. There are 12 frigates to be constructed under the RN's frigate-building program and VT is determined to be a part of it. However, VT will not start the upgrading unless the UK MInistry of Defense commits itself to giving VT a share in the designing and succeeding orders for the warships.
