U.S. Court Proceedings Could Make Microsoft Grow Bolder, Bigger

The U.S. Justice Department's antitrust lawsuit against Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Corp. may lead to the creation of an even stronger company. Industry analysts believe Microsoft will acquire financially-troubled dot.com companies, such as Crossgain Corp., as a groiwth strategy.

Microsoft accused in suits that echo landmark trial

Article Abstract:

Gravity Inc. of Texas and a software purchaser in California have filed separate lawsuits against Microsoft Corp. The plaintiffs claim that Microsoft is guilty of using its monopoly to overcharge customers for its Windows and Office software. The parties are seeking class-action status and damages for consumers for the professed overcharges. Compaq Computer Corp., Dell Computer Corp., and Packard Bell-NEC Inc. are also named in the federal suit. Gravity's suit was filed in federal court in Washington, DC, while the other was filed in a California state court.

Microsoft launches new Internet strategy

Article Abstract:

Microsoft Corp. introduced its new BizTalk electronic commerce initiative. The initiative is designed to strengthen the software giant's strategy. Previous electronic commerce efforts produced little "biz action." Microsoft's chairman and CEO, Bill Gates, introduced the new plans at a San Francisco event. The intiative shows that Microsoft has prioritized a market that experts say has been unsuccesful in creating much momentum.
