US Navy on the button: CMB technology tracks operation and maintenance

Article Abstract:

The US Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) concluded the initial testing of two prototype devices via contact memory button (CMB) technology that could lead to easier, quicker and more exact record-keeping by operations and maintenance staff. The tests confirmed that the button is durable enough and can provide exact, survivable data under operational conditions. NAVSUP studied one prototype in support of Sidewinder air-to-air missile maintenance on thee USS George Washington aircraft carrier. The other prototype was tested with two Norfolk, VA-based helicopter squadrons.
