U.S.-based Rykodisc takes its electic sound to Asia

Article Abstract:

Salem, MA-based Rykodisc Inc. has expanded its market to Asia with the forging of a licensing agreement with Rock Records in 1994. Rykodisc Exec. VP Arthur Mann believes that Asia poses as a major market for the company's artists. He noted, however, that the company is experiencing slight difficulties in marketing its products since the dominant sound recording mode in Asia is still analog based, while the popular configuration in the US is digital.

U.S. publisher taps into China electronics industry

Article Abstract:

Cahners Publishing Co hopes to cash in on the continued economic liberalization and progress in China as it launches EDN China, a monthly magazine on China's electronics industry. The company is particularly eyeing the rapidly burgeoning middle class in the Asian market, as publishing in North America begins to take the downslope. Asia has jumped from the third to virtually the top spot as a consumer of electronic parts and subsystems.

MCA taps into Seagram for help with Asia growth

MCA Inc. plans to intensify its marketing efforts in the growing Asian music market. The company hopes to tap the marketing expertise of its new majority owner, Seagram Co., which has already established a strong marketing network in the region. MCA intends to search its talent pool for artists who might appeal to Asian consumers and plans to introduce these artists through several MCA-produced television programs.
