U.S. unit of Toyota Motor is designing a light plane; Japanese auto maker cautions that work is at exploratory stage for single-engine aircraft

Article Abstract:

Toyota Motor Sales USA spokesman Mike Michels has announced the automobile manufacturer's plan to develop a light plane that could compete with the likes of Textron Inc's Cessna unit. A group of engineers has been assembled to create the preliminary designs on the plane which will have a US-made engine and will be built of modern composite materials. The decision to develop a plane is due to proddings from Toyota Pres Hiroshi Okuda who wants subsidiaries to increase their nonautomotive revenues to exceed 10% of sales.

Research engineers of the leading car producing companies are rethinking ways to design vehicles that are safer for the in an event of a collision, by making some changes in the shape of the vehicles without sacrificing on looks. Driven by a sense of social responsibility, the vehicle safety engineers are focusing on the steps to improve vehicle safety.

Toyota, Ford discuss financial services and hybrid cars

Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. are holding discussions regarding various cooperative ventures such as low-emission cars and financial services. Toyota is hoping to achieve growth by expanding to small and develping nations where the firm currenly does little business in financial services.
