ASTOR program enters the home straight

Article Abstract:

The UK government has approved of a proposal to launch the Airborne Stand-Off Radar (ASTOR) system in compliance with Staff Requirement (Land/Air) 925 of the UK Ministry of Defence after conducting Strategic Defence Review. The approval means a contract for the 750-million-pounds-sterling project will be awarded in the first quarter of 1999 to any of the three contenders that already submitted their best-and-final offers. The ASTOR project will include four or five aircraft as well as other related ground-based equipment.
