Unidentified investor purchases 5% of unit of Cable & Wireless

Article Abstract:

Cable & Wireless Communications PLC has sold 5% of the firm's second stock offering to an unidentified British buyer. The unidentified British organization purchased one-third of Cable & Wireless' 222 million shares, which Cable & Wireless is selling for GBP975 million. Under stock-exchange disclosure rules, the size of the acquisition will entail the unidentified buyer to reveal its name on the week of June 22, 1998. Cable & Wireless stated that 60% of its stock offering was placed with British investors, 25% with US institutions and 15% with international buyers.

U.K. expects up to six bids for air-traffic control deal

Article Abstract:

The U.K government is offering 46% of National Air Traffic Services Ltd. (NATS) in a "public-private partnership" under which the government will keep 49% and employees receive 5%. If the transaction goes through, NATS will become one of few privately operated air-traffic control systems in the world. The government expects to receive up to six offers for NATS.

New center to manage air traffic in Europe

Article Abstract:

Europe's air traffic control agency Eurocontrol has launched a new center, the Central Flow Management Unit, to improve efficiency and manage increasing air traffic. Air travel in Europe has grown 5% per year, with 33,000 flights per day; forecasts predict this number will double by the year 2020.
