VIJAY AMRITRAJ GETS DDI RIGHTS FOR $1

Article Abstract:

Prasar Bharati Corporation (PBC) has charged Mr Vijay Amritraj just $1 for exclusive downlinking and distribution rights for Doordarshan's international channel, DDI. He is likely to promote and distribute the channel over the North American region. The viewers and distributors have asked PBC to remove the exclusivity clause from the contract and replace it with general rights. PBC has maintained that its charges were kept low to attract distributors. (rk)

STAR, ISPAT IN 50:50 JV FOR DTH SERVICES

Article Abstract:

The Ispat group has tied-up with Star TV to form a 50:50 joint venture for providing direct-to-home (DTH) services. The joint venture will have an equity base of $200 million of which the Ispat group will contribute $100 million. Under the DTH service, the programme will reach subscribers directly without an intermediary like the cable operator. (gs)(vr)

VIJAY TANKS IN TIE-UP WITH JAPANESE CO

Vijay Tanks and Vessel Ltd has tied-up with Toyo Kanetsu KK of Japan for the design and construction of storage tank systems in India. They will initially undertake the design and construction of low temperature storage tanks for liquefied natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas. (khr)
