Vivendi nears pact for control of Neuf Cegetel

Article Abstract:

Vivendi S.A. provided details on its $6.33 bil proposal to assume control of broadband provider Neuf Cegetel S.A., which would make Vivendi a viable rival to France Telecom. SFR, Vivendi's mobile unit, would purchase the 28.64% Neuf Cegetel stake owned by commodity trader Louis Dreyfus. SFR currently owns 39.95% of Neuf Cegetel.

Level 3 to buy Broadwing in deal worth $1.4 billion

Level 3 Communications Inc. of the United States is to purchase Broadwing Corp. also of the United States for approximately $1.4 billion. The purchase of Broadwing Corp. is just one of a string of acquisitions for the telecommunications wholesaler Level 3 Communications Inc.

Middle East telecom deal hits $3.7 billion
