Vivendi to join Elektrim in Polish telecom market

Article Abstract:

France's Vivendi SA and Poland's Elektrim SA have formed a telecom partnership to capitalize on the growing telecom markets in Poland. Industry analysts have said that the new private joint venture, in which Vivendi has acquired a 30% stake in Elektrim subsidiary Elektrim Telekomunikacja for about $2.5 billion, will offer tremendous competition to Poland's state telephone operations.

Poland clears Coca-Cola plant

Article Abstract:

The health protectorate of Poland gave its approval to Coca-Cola Beverages Poland to reopen its plant which had been closed after the discovery of bacteria in mineral water bottles. However, Coca-Cola said that it would finish internal testing bottles before it would restart production. The plant is located near Wroclaw city in Sroda Slaska. Wroclaw is in southwestern Poland.

Daewoo plans to lay off 1,200 workers at Polish plant

Article Abstract:

Daewoo is planning to downsize its labor force at its plant in Poland by 1,200 workers. The layoffs, scheduled to begin in January 2001, will take place at Daewoo's Lublin truck plant.
