Wipro Ltd plans to have a direct presence in the global markets. It proposes to set up local subsidiaries in different nations as a part of its long term plan. It has set up two 100 percent subsidiaries - Wipro Japan kk in Japan and Wipro Inc in the US. Wipro plans to launch its European operations in London on September 24, 1998. It has hired public relation agencies like Fox Parrack Fox of UK and S&S of US to promote its marketing operations. It plans to appoint locals to head operations in important global markets. (ag)

WIPRO MAY SET UP DEVELOPMENT CENTRE IN MUMBAI

Article Abstract:

Wipro Infotech is thinking of setting up a software development centre at Mumbai and a final decision will be taken in a few months after evaluation. Wipro Enterprise Solutions, a division of Wipro Infotech which has software centres at Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Mysore, is planning to set up centres at Calcutta and Pune along with a second centre at Chennai. It is also evaluating the feasibility of setting up offices in Australia and Canada and increasing its European operations. (khr)

WIPRO INFOTECH PLANS DISASTER RECOVERY CENTRES

Article Abstract:

Wipro Infotech plans to set up disaster recovery centres for its corporate customers. The first centre will be set up at Mumbai in the first quarter of 1999-2000. The centres will provide clients with back-up for applications and data so that operations can continue in case of a calamity. The centres will benefit small and medium businesses who cannot commit adequate resources for backing up their data. (khr)
