WPP expects Olympics, vote to buoy 2008

First-half net profit for UK advertising services firm WPP Group PLC rose 2.9% to reach 181.9 mil pounds sterling, due in part to significant expansion from emerging markets such as China. Revenue rose by 2% to reach 2.92 bil pounds sterling. More growth is anticipated due to the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the presidential election in the US.

WPP net rises 31% on growth in billings, strong new business

Article Abstract:

WPP Group PLC of the United Kingdom posted a stellar 31 percent increase in first half net profit to 176.7 million Pounds ($333 million) from 135.4 million Pounds last year. Revenue increased 16 percent to 2.86 billion Pounds. Profit and revenue projections are set to exceed expectations for 2006.
