Easy going

Article Abstract:

Technology has vastly improved space-age travel. It has made transportation faster and more comfortable and has made accomodation cleaner and more serviceable. For example, while supersonic planes and high-speed trains have significantly decreased travelling time, service is improved through in-flight entertainments. Flight telephony systems and other satellite communications facilities are also increasingly being installed by airlines. Despite these innovations, the travel industry has yet to fully exploit the benefits of other technologies, such as common control systems, smart cards, magnetic stripes. On the other hand, the hotel industry has also improved their services through video check-out facilities and self-programmable wall safes and voice mail. However, computerization within the industry is limited to big hotel chains. These developments manifest the big strides achieved in improving travel although expenses may restrict their utilization.

Street wise

Article Abstract:

Business people who choose to travel in Europe by car should expect a number of difficulties. All over the EC, motorists are faced with traffic congestion, a shortage of legal parking spaces, unhelpful road signs and the likelihood of driving on the wrong side of the road. Cross-border travelers must also consider country differences in laws governing transportation. In Portugal, for instance, travelers involved in an accident cannot sue the driver if the latter is a relative. It should also be noted that compensation for injury and property damage is extremely low in Greece. However, the harmonization of EC laws is expected to benefit travelers. One expected benefit is the lowering of car-rental rates when the EC harmonizes value-added tax.
