Environmentalists and industry leaders are trying to focus on policies for reducing global warming that are either inexpensive or worth implementing irregardless of global warming's onset. The high economic cost of some policies has been a point of contention between industrialists and environmentalists.

If hazardous waste was treated as any other commodity the market place would find solutions to current disposal problems. In the US, places like New York send waste to midwestern states where dumping fees are $125 per ton less, but midwestern states are passing laws banning outside dumping.
