Wasteful transfusion

Article Abstract:

Four major banks in China that controls 70% of the countryEs lending and deposits viz. Agricultural Bank of China, Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, Bank of China and China Construction Bank have accumulated significant amount of non-performing loans (NPLs). To boost investorEs confidence on the occasion of the last two banks being listed on international stock markets, Chinese government has sanctioned $45 billion loan package from its foreign exchange reserves to restructure them, which has been questioned by economists. China has been suggested to bring more reforms in the banking sector.

The exchange rate of China's currency renminbi, which is kept steady against the United States dollar, has given the exporters an unfair advantage in the world markets. Changing the exchange rate policy would involve a risk that would send shockwaves across the East Asian region.
