Article Abstract:

A new weighted longline produced by the Norwegian company A S Fiskevegn is being used extensively in New Zealand. The weighted line sinks about 2.50 times faster than the conventional unweighted longlines. and is effective in carrying the bait away from the birds reach of birds. The weighted line has been approved for use without external weights by the Antarctic fishing management organization CCAMLR.
