Monetary policy: targets and transmission

Article Abstract:

The monetary policy of Bank of England that required it to maintain the target rate of inflation by using an instrument, which is the rate of interest on 14-day repurchase agreements, is mentioned. The biggest problem which the bank would face was to set interest rates based upon the economy, at least twelve months ahead, as a change in the interest takes one to two years to have its full effect upon output and inflation.
