Women in Korea get a whiff of power from credit cards

Article Abstract:

South Korean credit card companies are beginning to target women because women are working more and earning more. South Korea women are not accustomed to aggressive sale pitches because men have traditionally been the target of credit card companies. The marketing efforts made by several credit card companies to attract women as card holders are discussed.

Many South Korean companies are adding numbers to their advertising, as the numbers spell out words on most mobile phone handsets. The marketing targets teenagers and other consumers who use text messaging and cellular phones. Over 28 million people in South Korea use mobile phones.

South Korea's number of tourists from Japan has declined severely in the wake of terrorist attacks in the U.S. Japanese tourists are hesitant to travel even in Japan. The article discusses the impact of recent events on South Korea's tourist industry.
