With Monternet, China seeks to cast wider wireless web

Article Abstract:

Cellular telephone service provider China Mobile Communications Corp. is developing Monternet, a cellular phone service modeled after NTT DoCoMo Inc.'s i-mode service. Possible problems ahead include marketing strategy, technology issues, and the structural organization of China Mobile, which is spread out over 31 local and municipal operators.

City's cellular operators stumble where others have soared

Article Abstract:

Because the providers will not work with each other or with smaller application developers, they are lagging behind other Asian mobile phone operators that have had great success with innovative services.
