Worshipping the arts

Article Abstract:

Richard Murphy Architects converted a redundant church in Peebles into the East gate Centre with a series of bold moves, not least removing the side of the building to provide a public presence. It is the sort of job which Murphy relished, where functions are interlocked around the main space, a 220- seat auditorium, its presence not immediately legible form the street but could be found only by exploring the building.
