Yorkshire in the driving seat

Article Abstract:

Yorkshire has traditionally been a strong centre of motor manufacturing, although it is no longer home to any manufacturers. However, it is still a key area for some of the UK's largest quoted and private car retailers, such as Sanderson Bramall and D.C. Cook. Many leading dealerships are considering making acquisitions, and observers believe that the number of franchises is set to fall. Yorkshire has already seen some large transactions, including the purchase of Petrogate by Sanderson Bramall in 1994.

Italy: a market in transition

Article Abstract:

The Italian market for management buyouts (MBOs) is of recent development following the 1970s boom, and was hit by the 1990s recession. There is also concern about the domestic political and economic situation, increases in interest rates and devaluation of the Italian lira which has reduced activity both by domestic companies and by foreign companies in Italy. The world economic recovery and reforms in iTaly should help the market to recover.
