Article Abstract:

State-run postal and telephone services in Europe have not proven universally efficient or even universal. Competition in these two areas have been shown to improve efficiency and universality of the services. The pros of allowing companies to ccompete with the monopolies are discussed.

Absurdity in the air

Article Abstract:

Airlines in every country but the US are heavily subsidized and controlled by national governments. Aircraft manufacturers everywhere are also subsidized. A deregulated airline system modeled on the US industry would benefit tax payers and passengers in Europe.

Flying the flag

Article Abstract:

State ownership of airlines in Europe has effectively made each route between two countries a duopoly. The hold that state airline has on the business has led to high prices. Privatization and budget cutting is needed to make prices more competitive.
