Zaha loses cost control over AF

Article Abstract:

The Architecture Foundation (AF), the developer Land Securities and the contractor Bovis Lend Lease issued a joint statement insisting that Allies and Morrison work with Hadid on the project. The backers of the new Architecture Foundation building in south London defended a sudden and contentious move to bring Allies and Morrison in to oversee the completion of Zaha Hadid's scheme.

Fabric energy storage is graced with a new face

A latest form of fabric energy-storage, Thermocast, provides concrete coffered floor units with embedded water channels that improve on in-situ concrete and bespoke precast standards. This fabric energy-storage provides micro, internal environmental benefits in addition to the macroenvironmental benefits.

Country houses face new threat

Article Abstract:

A proposal by BattertonTyack Associates was rejected based on an inspector's report that the scheme was not in the mould of a classical country house. Legal observers and architects feel that the future of country houses has come under renewed threat from a High Court ruling that upheld the rejection.
