International Labour Organsiation forecast the number of unemployed will rise to 150 mn people in 1998. The situation is even worst as 60 mn or 40% of the jobless are people aged from 15-24. East Asia countries will account for 10 mn of the total, of which 3.5 mn from China and Hong Kong. Details of the unemployment rate for Asian countries in 1998 are as follow Countries Unemployment rate South Korea 7% China 5-6% Hong Kong 5% Thailand 6% Indonesia 9-12% *

The media and advertising industry of Vietnam has began expanding into and opening its market to the United States. The increased advertising and media spend has been fueled by young local consumers' prioritizing nonhousing consumer durable products. Advertising expenditure has increased to an estimated $125 million in 1999 from less than $100 million in 1995. The industry also reports an increase in number of media organizations in the country including 450 print media organizations.
