27 Firms suspended from phone bills

Bell Atlantic has suspended 27 companies from having their charges billed through Bell Atlantic's billing system. Spokesman Paul Miller explained that the companies are suspected of "cramming", adding unwarranted or bogus charges to the customers' bills. Bell Atlantic would not disclose the names of the suspended companies. In the future Bell Atlantic will no longer refer customers to billing-service companies but will handle all billing complaints through its own employees.
