Ailing Franklin Electronics cuts staff by 15 pct

Burlington, Penn.-based Franklin Electronics, which has reported losses of $30.2 million in the year ended March 31, will reduce its workforce by 15 percent. The company also is considering discontinuing its REX organizers at the same time it is trying to decide whether to release its new Rocket ebook product. Franklin Electronics, which produces electronic dictionaries, reference books, and Bibles, blames its poor performance on low sales of its REX pocket-size electronic organizers.
