Comcast reports solid first quarter

Comcast Corp. posted a 13% rise in first-quarter revenue, announcing that its three major divisions, cable-TV services, cable-TV networks, and shopping channel QVC Corp., had good performances in the first three months of the year.

Comcast stays a good sport: In discussing earnings, its CEO said little about a dispute over higher charges for sports programming

Government's General Accounting Office (GAO) report indicated that the price paid by cable operators for sports programming rose 59 percent since 2000. Comcast Corps', chief executive officer, Brian L. Roberts declined to discuss about the rising cost of sports programming even after Comcast Corp. reported a third-quarter profit of $3.2 billion.
